Montgomery County Real Estate

Montgomery County

Montgomery County real estate is located in south eastern Pennsylvania with a suburban southern population and a seemingly more rural northern section. The once rural farm country has been overrun with the post-World War II urban sprawl in most of the area outside of Philadelphia, while the rural north has stayed away from development through strict land use and because of the distance from urban centers. The county seat is Norristown, a once bustling center filled with retail and promise is now an average suburban city struggling with the pains of the early stages of a revitalization effort. Main Street Norristown has seen a brief resurgence in the boom years of the real estate market and has now settled into a slow ebb and flow of business as usual. Many of the other towns in the county consist of lesser main streets with a small town feel and then have the ever encroaching strip malls minutes away from the center.

Montgomery County, being a suburb of Philadelphia real estate, has many of its residents work within the city. However Montgomery County, also known as Montco, is also a major employment center with large business parks in Blue Bell, Lansdale, Fort Washington, Horsham and King of Prussia which attract thousands of workers from all over the region. The strong job base and taxes generated by those jobs have resulted in Montgomery County having a robust status among comparable counties throughout the United States.
